About Our Team

Coach Kat

Kat’s agility journey began in 2017 with her Pointer X, Harley, and you could say it was love at first jump. Since then, Harley and Kat have worked hard and celebrated many notable achievements together, both in agility and in other disciplines, including Harley’s ATChC (Agility Trial Champion of Canada) title. Additionally, in 2022 Kat and Harley earned a spot as an alternate for Team Canada at the 2023 World Agility Open. In 2018, Border Collie, Rubix, joined the family as Kat’s international agility prospect. When Rubix was 2 she sustained an injury that ended her competitive agility career; but not before she earned her ADC (Agility Dog of Canada) title. Rubix currently trains and competes in scent work. In 2020, border collie Eve joined the family. We are all so excited about Eve’s future as an International agility champion- she is already showing so much talent and potential.

Kat’s first passion is training her dogs, but a very close second is coaching her students and their dogs to be the best team they can be. She takes great pride in the inclusive, positive and supportive community Extension Dog Sports is becoming. Kat can’t wait to meet you and your dog, and support you to achieve whatever your agility goals may be, from backyard champion to world podium.

Shelby

You could say that Shelby didn’t choose the agility life, but rather the agility life chose her. In 2020, Shelby brought home her Aussie Border X, Oakley, to join her active lifestyle. Oakley is a whirlwind of a first dog, and it was abundantly clear from the very beginning that he needed agility as an outlet to be his best self. With Kat’s positive energy and support, agility has been the productive, fun, and confidence boosting part of every week as Shelby and Oakley work through some complicated behaviour training. In 2022, labrador, Tess, joined the family as Shelby’s competitive agility prospect. Even though she’s still a puppy, Tess is all Shelby’s dream come true for a fast agility dog, as well as a loveable and joyful family member.

Shelby does all the administration for Extension Dog Sports; she is your first point of contact when you inquire about agility, or register for classes, and she takes care of the back end management and scheduling. It is such a joy and privilege to support you all to have fun with your dogs! It’ll be your favourite part of the week; she can guarantee it.

OUR COMMUNITY IS PRETTY GREAT!
